What we collect and why
The table below lists each way we use personal data on this site, the law we rely on under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, and how long it is kept.
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis | Provider | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics (only if you allow it) | Pages viewed and interactions (such as which product you open); device and browser information; a pseudonymous ID. Your IP address is used to derive your approximate location. | Consent (UK/EU GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); PECR reg. 6) | PostHog Inc., EU cloud | Retained according to PostHog's data retention period for our plan, then deleted |
| Error monitoring | Error details, browser and operating system, the page URL, and a masked replay of the moments before an error (text and inputs masked, images and media blocked). No IP address or other personal details are sent by default. | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in keeping the site working | Functional Software Inc. (Sentry), USA | Sentry's retention period for our plan |
| Hosting logs | IP address, user agent, time of request | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in security and delivering the site | Vercel Inc. | Short-term, per Vercel's logging retention |
| If you email us: your email address and your message | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in responding to you | Our email provider | As long as needed to reply, then deleted unless there is an ongoing matter |
Cookies and similar technologies
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) we only store information on your device without asking when it is strictly necessary. Everything else needs your consent.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
theme | localStorage | Strictly necessary (preference): remembers light or dark mode if you choose one | Until you clear it |
lexio-consent | localStorage | Strictly necessary: records your analytics choice | Until you clear it |
ph_* | Cookie and localStorage (PostHog) | Analytics: only set if you allow analytics | Up to 1 year |
__ph_opt_in_out_* | localStorage (PostHog) | Strictly necessary: records whether analytics is allowed so PostHog respects your choice | Until you clear it |
| Sentry replay | sessionStorage (Sentry) | Error monitoring: holds the masked replay buffer so it can be sent if an error happens | Until you close the tab |
Changing your choice
You can allow or reject analytics at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of every page. If you reject analytics after allowing them, we stop collecting and remove PostHog's cookies and stored data from your browser.
International transfers
PostHog analytics data is processed in PostHog's EU cloud. Sentry and Vercel are based in the USA, so some data may be processed there. Where data leaves the UK or EU, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and EU Standard Contractual Clauses, and/or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension where the provider is certified.
Our products
This site links to Lexio's products, which live on their own websites (for example gmprentice.app and anvilstack.dev). Each product has its own privacy policy and terms, which apply when you use it. This notice only covers this website.
Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification)
- have your data deleted (erasure)
- restrict how we use your data
- object to our use of your data, including under legitimate interests
- receive your data in a portable format (portability)
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier use
To use any of these rights, email anthony@lexio.app. We'll reply within one month. Because analytics data is pseudonymous, we may need your help to find it.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. If you are in the EU, you can contact your local data protection supervisory authority.

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data.

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change affects how we use your data in a significant way, we'll ask for your consent again where needed.
